Packaged heat pumps, such as the two-ton version, are a green and efficient way to control the temperature in your home or business. These units combine both the indoor and outdoor components of a traditional split-system heat pump into one compact design, making them easier to install and eliminating the need for extra fans or ductwork.
In heating mode, the heat pump uses a refrigerant to absorb heat from the outside air or ground and release it inside to raise the temperature. In cooling mode, the heat pump reverses this process by drawing heat from the indoor air and releasing it outside to lower the temperature, using a component called a reversing valve and the same refrigerant used in heating mode.
Packaged heat pumps can be a good alternative to central air systems or gas furnaces, especially for those seeking a single energy-efficient system for both heating and cooling. A two-ton heat pump can provide the benefits of a packaged heat pump, especially in warm climates and during the heating season, when traditional heating systems may not be needed as often.
